Jeff Lucas was born in New York in 1963. At an early age, his family relocated to Dunedin, Florida where Jeff locally attended school. Jeff graduated from Dunedin High School and attended the University of Tampa.
In December 1986, Jeff received his Bachelor of Science degree in criminology. In addition, Jeff attended the University of Tampa on an Army ROTC full tuition, room-and-board scholarship. After obtaining his Bachelor’s degree Jeff went on to pursue his military training and career as an Army Officer attending Army Officer training at Fort McClellan, Alabama. And then served for 8 years as a United States Army Military Police Officer.
On active reserve duty, Jeff continued to further his education and pursue the legal field. He attended California Western School of Law where he received his Juris Doctorate. As a result of all his life experiences, clients and colleagues often describe Jeff Lucas as respectful and compassionate. People quickly find comfort while speaking with him. After successfully passing the Florida Bar exam, Jeff began practicing law in 1992. He served as a Public Defender for the Sixth Judicial Circuit for both Pasco and Pinellas Counties from July 1992 to April 1995. In June 1995, Jeff joined a firm in Tarpon Springs, FL. There he continued to practice criminal defense and expanded his practice to include civil litigation specifically personal injury. In 1999 Jeff Lucas went into private practice in New Port Richey, FL.
In 2000 Jeff created the initial partnership which today we know as the Law Offices of Lucas & Magazine. In 2006 Jim Magazine joined the partnership, expanding the firm’s litigation and trial department. Especially relevant Mr. Lucas serves as the managing partner for the Law Offices of Lucas & Magazine. He oversees all the daily business operations for all locations. In addition, he regularly visits all our offices located in New Port Richey, Spring Hill, Wesley Chapel, and Clearwater. Furthermore, Jeff is always readily available to all staff for any advisement they may ever need.
Jeff thoroughly enjoys not only serving his clients for their legal needs but also being of service within the community. With his legal experience, Jeff has volunteered pro-bono to assist Dayspring Academy Charter School as their attorney. Because of his passion for education, Mr. Lucas taught as an Adjunct Professor at Pasco-Hernando State College. He covered courses for Civil Procedure, Trial Practice, Evidence, Torts and Criminal Law. Furthermore, the partners have given back in numerous ways, including but not limited to, assisting veterans, police, firefighters, children and single parents through the Lucas & Magazine Community Foundation and the law firm.
Most of all Jeff loves his family. He has been married to Dr. Josephine Lucas for more than 30 years, and they have two children who are currently pursuing their college degrees. Away from the office, Jeff enjoys traveling with his family as well as boating.
